I’m deeply honored and grateful to announce that I am officially a Certified Financial Therapist™ (CFT™)! Truly humbled to be named the DFWChild 2023 Mom Approved Wellness Professionals award 💙 ⁣for the third year in a row!

After completing graduate school, I made a very conscious effort to reject the traditional medical model of mental illness and shift to mental health care and wellness. I started integrating positive psychology concepts into my practice, teaching wellness classes, and focusing on a strengths-based approach with my clients. So it feels especially gratifying to win this award in the Health and Wellness category!⁣

Having clients trust me with their stories is truly one of the most sacred gifts in being a therapist. Beyond grateful to be able to hold space for them every day ✨⁣

"92% of people in couples therapy say it keeps their relationship healthy, and those who are in therapy–couples or individual–are more likely to say their relationship is going smoother than normal. Therapy, whether done together or separately, can be a beneficial tool in relationships to prevent problems from forming and can keep existing issues from becoming bigger"

"The only guarantee about is that however you feel right now, you will not always feel this way."

If your life has exploded into a million little bits, you don’t need platitudes. You don’t need cheerleading. You don’t need to be told this all happened for a reason. Some things cannot be fixed. But they can be carried.

Mourning the loss of a loved one isn’t efficient, compact or logical, says writer Nora McInerny. She explains why.

We think being hard on ourselves will motivate us to work longer + push harder, but it often leaves us feeling drained, unhappy, and worthless without accomplishments.⁣

Instead, celebrate where you are right now. It’s not like the to-do list ever gets shorter.⁣

Consider this as your invitation to be gentle. (I’m telling myself just as much as I’m inviting you) 💙⁣

Happy Halloween 🎃👻 ⁣

Halloween can thrilling and fun… and it can be full of scaries and tears.⁣

Remember: all feelings are welcome! And reminds us that the more we talk to our kids about what to expect, the more they will feel in control… which means the more they will *act* in control. ⁣

This Halloween, let everyone know it’s safe to have, feel, and express their emotions. Ask how they think they’ll feel when you announce, “Time to go home!” - kids who can anticipate their feelings tend to be better able to regulate them, because they are less taken by surprise. ⁣

✨ And see what part of the holiday you can embrace with playfulness. We deserve some fun too… break from the usual routine and prioritize silliness with them!⁣

It’s , a designation that I hope will eventually sound as unnecessary as World Eating Day or World Sleeping Day, because mental health is health, and inseparable from who we are as human beings. But for now, mental health is still stigmatized and misunderstood, and if giving it a special day means more folks publicly share their stories, then I’m all for it.

Lifestyle shifts are a real piece of recovery, so here are some gentle reminders.

I post and share all this because visibility is so important. Normalizing this conversation not only helps us feel less alone, but it will save lives.

Be kind to your mind. 💖⁣ Sending love to all who need it.

Today is and wouldn’t it just so happen that I woke up today feeling a little and unsettled. I’m going to let you in on a little secret:⁣

Therapists have to intentionally work on their mental health, too.⁣

So the in me needed some quick dopamine hits to boost my mood. So I:⁣
✔️ did a load of laundry⁣
✔️ finally unpacked the suitcase I was living out of for most of September (we procrastinate, too!)⁣
✔️ reached out to a friend for support⁣
[Side note: people talk about “reaching out for support” like it’s so easy, but even as a mental health professional, I hesitated. So if having some language helps, it sounded like this: “hey bestie! do you have 30 mins to chat today? having all the feels and i wanted to talk them out with you!”]⁣
✔️did a walk and talk outside which was a quadruple wellness bonus: ⁣
🏃🏽‍♀️ exercise⁣
🌲 spending time in nature⁣
☀️ vitamin D⁣
💙 connection⁣

and the Dallas Cowboys win tonight didn’t hurt! 🏈⭐️ ⁣

In this mental health crisis, tech-leveraged therapeutics are the future of care. 🥽⁣

Therapy offered electronically not only increased accessibility in some circumstances, it has also been proven to be just as effective as in-person treatment (APA, 2020).⁣

“The reality is there will never be enough high-quality providers to meet the growing demand for mental health services,” Singhvi says. “If we’re serious about addressing this crisis, we have to let go of the idea that therapy can only be done face-to-face and recognize the huge gains provided by user-friendly automated digital interventions.”⁣

Thrilled to share that I’m featured in “What Will the Future of Mental Health Care Bring?” by Verywell

“People aren’t returning to the couch,” says Priya Singhvi, LPC, LMFT, Director of Clinical Operations at Rey. “Covid-19 dramatically affected the practice of talk therapy by incorporating wide scale adoption of technology. Many clinicians have made the choice to continue treating people remotely. Now that telehealth has taken off, there’s no going back.”⁣

Drop the critic and lean in to compassion. ⁣

We face many choices each day to incline in one direction or another. ⁣

These choices arise in the relationship we have with ourselves. When we make a mistake, or feel pain, or are going through a difficult time, do we incline towards for ourselves? Or do we incline towards self-judgment and disconnection from ourselves? And the choices arise in our with others and with the world around us. When faced with another’s pain, what do we incline towards? ⁣

The tiniest incline towards compassion can often make all the difference. And while these choices may seem small in the moment, over time they fundamentally shape who we are. They transform us into our most loving and compassionate selves, which in turn helps us to transform the world around us.⁣

Special thanks to for this gentle reminder. What step will you take to drop the critic and lean in to compassion?⁣
