Flu vaccine is now available at Piga Primary Care Associates. This year we will have both the injectable flu vaccine and the nasal spray flu vaccine (Flumist). For our patients over 65 years old, we will be offering the high-dose flu vaccine which provides better protection.

We will be administering the flu vaccine during our regular office hours. We will also have our drive-thru flu vaccine clinics on September 27th and October 4th from 9am to 12pm.

You can schedule by calling our office at 214-618-2222 or online via our patient portal or our website. When scheduling online, please select "General Practice" under Specialty and "Flu Shot Visit" under Reason for Visit. You should see all available dates and times to schedule your flu vaccine.

A measles outbreak that started in west Texas has affected more than 100 patients so far. Cases have now been reported in San Antonio, Houston, and as of today, Rockwall. Today an unvaccinated school-aged child died from measles in Lubbock.

MMR vaccine is typically given in 2 doses at 12 months and 4 years old. If you or your child have only had 1 dose of the vaccine, the 2nd dose may be given 4 weeks after the first dose. If you were vaccinated prior to 1968, you may want to get a dose of the current MMR vaccine. If your child is 6-12 months old, they can get an early dose of the MMR vaccine.
