North Texas Swallowing & Neurological Rehab's mission is provide exceptional, person-centered care utilizing current evidence-based practices and specialized treatment programs for swallowing. I have completed several specialty trainings and certifications in many areas with swallowing, including the following: fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) diagnostics; Ampcare, Effective Swallowing Protocol (ESP); the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP), and the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImp). I am also trained in LSVT LOUD, the “gold standard” in voice treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions. We strive to help each individual swallow as functionally and independently as possible following stroke, brain injury, and other neurological conditions.

I love that SLP’s have the ability to help people regain this ability and be more functionally independent.

The McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP) is an exercised-based therapy program that focuses on the progressive strengthening, development and refinement of the muscular components of the swallowing process. A food/liquid hierarchy of materials is sequenced to “exercise” your swallow based on the exercise physiology components of speed/coordination and progressive resistance to help change your swallow physiology toward “normal.” Think of MDTP as an intensive one-on-one rehabilitation boot camp for your swallow! There is no restriction on severity level—from no food by mouth to difficulty with specific foods, MDTP can be used to rehabilitate your swallow. There is treatment available, so you can once again eat the foods you love and miss!
