In recognition of Environmental Services Week, we are proud to celebrate the incredible environmental services (EVS) team members across Medical City Healthcare for maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients, colleagues and visitors. From infection prevention to patient safety, EVS team members show up to care for the spaces we share, and their work is foundational to the overall care experience.

Whether preparing a room for a new patient or ensuring high-touch areas are safely sanitized, the hard work and dedication of our EVS team members make a positive impact on the high-quality care we deliver. Thank you, EVS professionals, for creating a welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

September is NICU Awareness Month, an opportunity to recognize the care teams, families and patients from our neonatal intensive care units.

Earlier this month, chief nursing officer John Hedgpeth participated in "A Walk in Your World" in the NICU. John shared a shift with Victoria Alford, RN, gaining insight into the daily responsibilities, successes and challenges in the unit.

John says: "During our walk, I saw first hand how Victoria serves our patients and colleagues as a compassionate, dedicated team leader in our NICU. Thank you to the entire NICU team, especially Victoria, for allowing me to share in the delivery of outstanding patient care to our most vulnerable patient population."

According to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Blood Cancer United), about every three minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma – the most common types of blood cancer. Blood cancer is caused by DNA mutations within blood cells. In most cases, this is linked to factors beyond our control, like age, ethnicity and family history. This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re answering common questions by sharing the facts shown here.

As a part of HCA Healthcare, we give our patients healthier tomorrows through access to a connected oncology network, including nine accredited blood cancer treatment programs. Through these programs, over 1,000 acute leukemia patients receive treatment each year. For some blood cancers, the only potential cure is a blood and marrow transplant. The HCA Healthcare Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network is the nation's leading provider of these transplants, conducting over 1,500 annually. Cellular therapy is another potential treatment for those with blood cancer, and our network is also leading the way in this novel treatment.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with blood cancer, we’re here to help. Find compassionate oncology care: https://bit.ly/41xjxO5
