Stabilizing the kneecap, restoring confidence. 🎯

Patellofemoral instability can cause repeated kneecap dislocations, pain, and loss of trust in your knee. An MPFL reconstruction rebuilds the ligament that keeps the patella tracking correctly in the groove — restoring stability and allowing patients to return to sport and daily activity.

In appropriately selected patients, an isolated MPFL reconstruction can effectively restore patellofemoral stability without the need for a concomitant tibial tubercle osteotomy.

Precise surgery. Stronger knees. Back to doing what you love. Full video available on YouTube channel.

Thank you to the Texas Legends for the visit at our new clinic and for being such a valued part of the North Texas sports community. We look forward to continuing to support athletes on and off the court.

In this part of the procedure, we dock our graft into the medial side of the patella using biocomposite anchors. The graft is then tunneled between layers 2 and 3 of the medial soft tissues, exiting at the femoral attachment point (Schöttle’s point). Staying within the proximal half of the patella is critically important in recreating an anatomic MPFL. Stay tuned for more, and find the full video on our YouTube channel.

Restoring medial restraint restores confidence.

The MPFL (medial patellofemoral ligament) is the primary soft-tissue stabilizer preventing lateral patellar translation. When it tears — most commonly after a traumatic dislocation — patients are left with instability, apprehension, and a knee they often can’t trust.

MPFL reconstruction recreates that native restraint using an anatomic graft technique to restore stability, protect cartilage, and allow patients to return to sport with confidence.

Not every first-time dislocation requires surgery. But in cases of recurrent instability, high-risk anatomy, or failed conservative care, restoring medial stability can be transformative. Stability matters.

This one is special.

A few years ago, a mutual friend brought Anthony to see me for a shoulder issue. At the time, he was quietly thinking about a comeback. The golf world hadn’t seen or heard from one of its most electric talents in years.

The shoulder was real — but this wasn’t the biggest challenge he was facing.

Anthony was fighting something much heavier — addiction and the weight of his own inner demons. The kind of fight that doesn’t show up on a leaderboard. The kind that happens in silence. Even in that first visit, you could sense the weight he was carrying, and the fight he was in.

Over the years since, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know AK not just as a player, but as a friend. I’ve watched him grind — not just on the course and range — but in his daily, unglamorous world of choosing sobriety and his family over everything. Of rebuilding. Of showing up when it would’ve been easier to disappear.

What makes this win so special isn’t just the trophy. It’s what it represents. Redemption. Resilience. The courage to confront yourself and keep going.

I’m incredibly proud of you, Anthony. What you’ve done off the course matters more than anything that happens on it.

This is what perseverance looks like.

Keep going, my friend.

An opening-wedge distal femoral osteotomy (DFO) is a joint-preserving procedure used to correct knee alignment when excess pressure is placed on one side of the joint. By carefully creating and opening a wedge in the distal femur, we can shift the mechanical axis of the leg to offload damaged cartilage and redistribute forces more evenly across the knee. This can reduce pain, improve function, and help active patients delay or avoid joint replacement while returning to the activities they enjoy.

For added precision, we use patient-specific instrumentation designed from advanced preoperative imaging. Every detail of the surgery is planned ahead of time — including the exact osteotomy size, plate design, and screw lengths. Custom guides help translate this plan accurately in the operating room, improving alignment, efficiency, and reproducibility. This technology allows for a highly personalized correction tailored to each patient’s anatomy and goals. If you’d like, I can tighten it up for a more casual Instagram tone or add a sentence about recovery/return to sport.
