She moved here in 2011 and has a wonderful husband and two little boys ages 3 and 1, who bring daily joy to her life. Dr. Carter completed her undergraduate education at Cornell University, earning a dual degree in Human Development, and Hu
man Biology, Health, and Society. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas as a Diversity Scholar. Following internship at The Methodist Hospital, she completed her training at Baylor as the first Black resident in the department of Dermatology. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Carter has publications in multiple medical journals, and she has presented at meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Texas Dermatological Society. She is the current vice president of the C. Roman Medical Society, the local chapter of the National Medical Association. As someone who enjoys public outreach, volunteerism, and speaking, she engages in a number of activities to promote skin health. Among these include being featured on National Public Radio, Trinity Broadcasting Network, the CW Network, and NBC Channel 5 covering sun protection, skin cancer, and skin rejuvenation techniques. She also volunteers her time as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., participating in various DFW area health fairs, and serving as a mentor to medical students. She has been a consultant for local and national publications, such as The Dallas Morning News, Woman’s Day magazine, and WebMD magazine, discussing skin care recommendations. She has also been honored as a D Magazine Best Doctor for the last three years. Her scope of practice encompasses medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, with a special interest in psoriasis, skin of color, and skin cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. She has a passion for her profession, tailoring treatment plans for each patient’s individual needs and educating patients about their skin.
