When I decided to become an IBCLC I had no idea just how daunting the process was going to be. It took me 6 years of lots of hard work to achieve it but I am so happy I stuck with it.

The best decision I made during those years, hands down, was getting my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist Certification. I learned after becoming a CBS that some people piece-meal their 90 hours and while it’s a valid approach, I couldn’t imagine not having a structured training program when I first started out. The program is online which is super convenient and while it didn’t take me a year, the year long access comes in clutch because honestly, studying and raising a family takes a lot of time & energy. The year long access to the training would have been a life saver if I had started it after Ariana was born.

I was able to use my CBS cert- both from the knowledge gained and the respect of a credential- to launch my business and feel confident helping parents.

It’s crazy- I rebranded Mattos Lactation in 2018 as a CBS, grew my business as a CBS, and helped family across the country via Telehealth as a CBS.

Did you know LER has over 60 parent friendly handouts on common breastfeeding issues you can share or use for FREE?

I use many of these handouts daily, which saves me tons of time having to write my own. They not only have handouts in English but also in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese & Polish.

They also have a set of handouts geared towards professionals.

Lactation Education Resources provides online lactation courses following the IBLCE blueprint designed to prepare students to sit for the IBLCE exam to achieve certification or recertification as lactation consultants.

Bleeding & soreness are commonly reported side effects of tongue tie surgery in babies. More severe complications have been reported, but should you worry?

So... Exciting News: Mattos Lactation has moved to Texas!

I have been waiting to return to Texas so I can get settled in and set up a home base. Years of moving has meant a focus on virtual support- which I love- but getting settled in a location with a long term focus, is always nice.

I will be still providing virtual services to families world-wide: Telehealth is such an integral part of my business, I could never ditch that.

But now, if you know of someone in the Frisco, Texas Area that needs in person support, I am available to provide in-home, hands on support.

I am really excited about this move & couldn't wait to share the news with you!
