What Conditions Are Commonly Treated During Sick Visits?

Sick visits are commonly used to diagnose and treat a wide range of acute conditions that arise suddenly. Common conditions treated during sick visits include respiratory infections such as colds, flu, and strep throat, as well as ear infections, sinus infections, and bronchitis. Gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain are also frequently addressed during sick visits.

Other conditions that may prompt a sick visit include skin rashes, allergic reactions, minor injuries, and fevers that do not respond to over-the-counter medications. In addition, sick visits are often used to evaluate symptoms that may be related to chronic conditions, such as asthma flare-ups or worsening eczema. The goal of a sick visit is to provide timely diagnosis and treatment to help your child recover quickly and prevent complications.

Is There a Difference between an Annual Physical and a School Physical?

An annual physical exam and a school physical are one and the same. Depending on where you live and your child’s overall health and wellbeing, as well as their participation in sports, they may be required to have an exam on annual basis or only every other year.
The physical exam gives the child and parents a chance to talk to the doctor about any health concerns they have and gives the doctor the ability to check the child’s growth and development across their physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral health.
