Congratulations to Keiron, Nikki and Keenon on the birth of Jalen Jackson! Jalen was born on 10.5.22 at 3:05pm weighing 7lbs 9oz and measuring 20” in length.
After a birth experience they didn’t wish to repeat, Niki started researching how to achieve a birth where she could walk away feeling confident, at peace, informed and fully supported. After talking through what she wanted, she decided to make the switch to Swiss OBGYN at 36 weeks. Dr. U was the perfect fit and things started falling into place. The gender was a surprise and they were so excited to see who this baby was. At 39+3, I got at call at 5am saying she was in labor and that things were picking up quickly. With her history of quick births, her OB had her come in. Once arriving, things slowed down and after a couple hours it was suggested that they go enjoy a yummy breakfast and come back when things picked up. Find yourself a provider who encourages you to walk out at 4-5cm when it’s beneficial. A couple hours later she walked back in at 6cm still chatting, relaxed and in good spirits. She decided to opt for a small dose of pitocin to give her body a boost and then continued to walk the hallways. Her husband had named one corner the ‘contraction corner’ because almost every time she turned that corner a contraction would start. After one very strong contraction, she said her water would break during her next contraction. Sure enough, we hit ‘contraction corner’ at 3pm, her water breaks and she starts pushing. The next 2-3 minutes were us and nurses getting her back to her room as quickly as possible between contractions. A resident was called in and fully supported her pushing in whatever position she wanted to birth in, something she really wanted. At 3:05pm their baby was born and daddy was thrilled to announce that it was a boy!
Keiron and Niki were such a wonderful couple to support, keeping things light and fun with Keiron’s jokes and Niki’s calm and peaceful manner. She stayed in control and was focused and so amazing. Everyone on the floor was on a birth high from how incredible and empowering her birth was. Congratulations to your family and enjoy your sweet boy!
