Another great example of how powerful new and advanced treatment options are for Demodex (mite) infestations. This before and after photo shows the power of a Zolcular Zest treatment and Xdemvy (new prescription eye drop). This patient will maintain their healthy lashes with Intense Pulsated Light (IPL) and proper eyelid hygiene. These lashes can now grow longer and thicker thanks to advancements in eye care.

“Something feels scratchy” This patient has been dealing with red and irritated eyes for many months. After a thorough examination we found a major problem with the eyelids of each eye. This is a somewhat common problem as we age called, Entropion. Entropion is the inversion of the eyelid margin, due to changes in our eyelid muscles and skin. When the eyelid turns inward, the lashes go with it. Age is the most common cause but trauma, surgery, and systemic issues can lead to this as well. The biggest concern we have for these patients are the eyelashes rubbing against the corneal surface. This can lead to severe corneal disease and even scarring if not treated. This particular patient had to have the lashes removed and a bandage contact lens was inserted, until surgery could properly fix the eyelid margin.
