There was something extra special in the air today…
A sacred kind of timing.
Working on an aunty who once danced in the Merrie Monarch Festival… during Merrie Monarch week itself… you could feel the lineage in her body. The stories. The rhythm. The ʻāina moving through her.
Now her days look different—delivering mail, serving the community in a new way. But 80% of her route is spent locked into a car, pelvis tucked, hips held still, breath shortened… and that alone carries its own kind of weight over time.
So today was about giving back to that body.
Slow resets through the glutes, hips, and down the leg…
Creating space where repetition had created holding.
Using all sorts of techniques..even some pin and stretch to invite movement back into places that forgot how to glide.
There’s something powerful about helping a body remember.
From hula dancer… to postal carrier…
Still moving for the people. Still showing up.
And here, on Oahu, this island of Hawaii, where the land and the body are always in conversation… it felt like honoring more than just muscle.
It felt like honoring her story.
Her service.
Her dance… still living within her.
Aloha in every release 🌿🌺
