On September 15th, we organized a Resiliency Open House, where we showcased an array of valuable resources that are readily accessible to both Soldiers and DA Civilians on the island. The event was a resounding success, fostering meaningful connections within the community and empowering all participants to actively seek assistance whenever they find themselves in need.

Happy - thank you to our very own Social Worker, CPT Stonehouse!

CPT Stonehouse started out her time in the Army enlisted as a Cyber Operations Specialist, out of place but found her way. She came into the army with a bachelors degree in Psychology but the 68X job was not available, so she made the choice to come in and get out of her comfort zone. While in her first unit (780th Military Intelligence Brigade) her leadership encouraged her to apply for the Army Masters in Social Work program. She was accepted in 2017 and commissioned within her BDE with her leaders that supported her through the process. She attended BOLC and the Army MSW program at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Upon graduation with her MSW and promotion to 1LT she headed off to Fort Carson, CO for internship and later was offered the position of Clinic Chief. She interviewed with us at 516th in the spring of 2021 and arrived that fall. She has led the BDE’s behavioral health program with ease, providing counseling to soldiers, consultation to command members and leading our Brigade Climate Assessment Team.

Being a leader is more than just assigning work, it’s about building relationships with your team, knowing their strengths, understanding their weaknesses and helping them step into their best self - both professionally and personally. This takes high emotional intelligence, a core skill of effective leaders. One of the ways to get at this is to understand your communication style, and that of your teammates.

I offer small group coaching to leaders across the military. We learn how to build emotional intelligence, our own primary communication style, managing teams across the spectrum of styles, and how to build cohesive and effective teams to increase productivity, collaboration and success.
