The Plaza Assisted Living began with our first community, The Plaza at Punchbowl, which opened its doors in January 2004. Our second community, The Plaza at Mililani, welcomed residents in February of 2010 followed by The Plaza at Moanalua, which opened in the Fall of 2012. Our fourth, fifth and sixth Assisted Living communities, The Plaza at Pearl City, Waikiki and Kaneohe, opened in the Fall of 2014, 2015 and the summer of 2019 respectively.

Strawberries, crème, and a whole lot of smiles. 🍓

It was National Strawberries & Crème Day, so our kūpuna rolled up their sleeves and got to work — whisking, whipping, and folding fresh cream until it was just right. One of our resident chefs gave the bowl her signature thumbs-up of approval, and that was our cue to start scooping. 🥄

Mahalo to everyone who whisked, sliced, scooped, and savored alongside us today. Here's to more afternoons like this one.

Look who came to visit! 🐾

Our service dog Hannah stopped by The Plaza at Kāneʻohe this week to share hugs, kisses, and a whole lot of tail-wagging joy with our friends. She made the rounds room by room — gentle nuzzles for some, a soft paw for others, and a few well-earned belly rubs along the way.

Then came showtime: Hannah dazzled the crowd with her famous leap through the hula hoop, a perfect tennis-ball catch, and her signature good-girl grin. The smiles in the room said it all.

Mahalo to Hannah and her handler for bringing so much aloha through our doors. Come back soon, sweet girl — we'll keep the treats ready. 🦴💛

Lights out and away we go 🏁

For National First Formula 1 Race Day, our kūpuna at The Plaza at Waikīkī traded their bingo cards for racing colors. Each resident picked a Formula 1 team to represent, then took marker and crayon to a little wooden car — turning bare blocks into bright Ferraris, Red Bulls, Mercedes and McLarens.

Then we lined them up, set them loose down the track, and cheered like we were in Monaco. The smiles in the pit lane were as colorful as the liveries. 🏎️✨

Our kūpuna picked up the bachi and joined a Taiko performance right here in the great room — and the whole house could feel it. There's something about taiko that doesn't ask your age before it moves you: the floor hums, the hands remember, and pretty soon everyone is grinning.

Watching our residents step up to the drums, sticks raised, eyes bright — that's the rhythm of life at The Plaza.

During Nurses Week, our Pearl City ‘ohana took time to celebrate the nurses, CNAs, and caregivers who show up every day with patience, compassion, and heart. From Disney day to game-day jerseys, every moment reminded us how special this team truly is.

From spoonful to bowls. At The Plaza at Moanalua, our residents experienced a meaningful poi pounding demonstration, connecting with a tradition rooted in patience, respect, and culture.

Through Papa and Pōhaku with Keiki o ka ʻĀina, I carved my own papa ku'i'ai, Huli ‘au, and pōhaku ku'i'ai, Hōkū ‘ili, each reflecting a journey of growth and staying grounded.

More than creating, this experience was about sharing, giving back, and building connection with our kūpuna.
