A team from the University of Hawaii (UH) concluded a week long Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) training October 23, 2025 at LBJ Tropical Medical Center and American Samoa Department of Health Pre-Natal clinics. Training focused on ultrasound scanning techniques and identifying pregnancy anomalies. The training is part of a USDA DLT and DOI grants awarded to LBJ Hospital that procured GE Voluson SWIFT Ultrasound machines and Vscan Handheld Ultrasound units for OB/GYN clinics at LBJ Hospital and DOH, including Ofu and Ta’u clinics.

🤝 In partnership with the Queen's Health System, PBTRC hosted 4 in-person workshops to highlight the online curriculum and provide hands-on training to CHWs, frontline healthcare workers and digital navigators. Participants’ self-rated confidence skyrocketed — from 2.7 to 4.6 in helping patients use portals and 2.9 to 4.6 in supporting telehealth visits 🤯 Read the full story here - https://www.pbtrc.org/2025/10/16/digital-navigator-training/ ✅
