June 11th marks King Kamehameha Day! This holiday honours the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawai'i, King Kamehameha the Great, who unified the Hawaiian Islands in 1795, with the Kingdom being fully unified when the islands of Kaua'i and Ni'ihau voluntarily joined the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1810.

Today was the King Kamehameha Celebration parade, which runs from 'Iolani Palace in downtown Honolulu to Kapi'olani Park in Waikiki.
