I'm curious - what got you into practicing yoga? 🧘‍♀️

For me, it was mindfulness.

I was introduced to meditation when my life felt lost and in a spiral. Since that moment in Japan (which I talked about in my last post), I've devoted my career to helping others find this grounding. ✨🙏🏼✨

I spent 3 hours practicing gentle yoga, breathing, and meditation every day. 🌞🌺

During a 6-day retreat last month at ’s beautiful studio on Maui 🌴, I was reminded that mindfulness is the simple awareness of yourself and how your body, mind, and heart are feeling at that exact moment. 💚

Yoga is such a powerful practice. 🙌🏼 The more we practice, the easier we can incorporate mindfulness in our daily activities, like enjoying a pleasant stroll in the woods or during an evening stretch.

Feeling a sense of stillness during your yoga practice is healing. ✨🙌🏼✨

But how do you apply this in your everyday life? 🤔 Sitting at your computer reading a stressful email. Exercising restraint in a heated conversation. Or perhaps trying to quiet your mind for a good night's rest.

Solo Only
Now on Oahu, due to another “lockdown” order issued by the state of Hawai’i’- one can only go to the beach, hiking or park ALONE. Solo. Not with a family member, even if they are a young child or your spouse. It makes no sense for the general safety of individuals and inhibits the freedom of families to just be outdoors for health and wellbeing.
I’m deeply concerned for what is happening in Hawai’i and worldwide.
Hawai’i has been under several changing lockdowns due to an “Emergency Order” issued by the state of Hawai’i back in March.
This is an issue of health for all human beings - for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health.
Many small businesses are going out of business for good and many have lost their jobs in Hawai’i and across the world. And people are suffering.
This is about people’s freedoms and our inalienable rights as human beings.
All people are suffering from these lockdowns.
Though we are all trying to make the best of the situation, when rules are imposed that cause more suffering than benefit over an entire population and society, I don’t feel that those rules are for the greater good or have compassion for the actual health and wellbeing of individuals.
I stand for Freedom for people to live a healthy life, and opening up Hawaii’s economy.
I will be sharing more on developments in Hawai’i.

Flo Yoga Hawaii offers Oceanfront Morning and Sunset Yoga Classes in the Park near Waikiki. Our styles of teaching include Gentle Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yoga Basics, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga and Functional Fitness offered in Honolulu, Hawaii. We teach classes that focus on connecting breath with movement and emphasize meditation and awareness. A consistent yoga and meditation practice builds strength and flexibility while allowing the practitioner to find their center and calm the mind. It's an excellent way to condition the body, release toxins, and get grounded, balancing all aspects of body, mind and spirit.
