We sadly announce the passing of our owner, Walter.

Walter M Omori passed away at home on May 25, 2022 at the age of 83.

Walter was born Aug 24, 1938 in Honolulu, HI. He grew up in Kalihi and graduated Farrington HS c/o 1956.

Walter is known for owning several popular businesses including:

--- Walter's Sound & Musical Equip. providing sound systems to many talented artists including Melveen, Sons of Hawaii, Danny Kaleikini and so many more.

--- Walter's Vinyl Disco provided party music to weddings, graduations, private parties around the island.

--- Walter’s Karaoke started with 8-tracks then cassettes to cds and finally computer hard drives. Selling and renting his equipment and services for private events and parties. He regularly hosted Karaoke weekly at different locations on Oahu. He ran Karaoke Contests that took winners to Nashville, TN and Talent Quest, a national Karaoke contest in Laughlin, NV.

--- Walter’s Himalayan Salt Lamps started with a lamp cause it was pretty. Research led to the health benefits that he shared with family and friends. The demand led Walter to import Himalayan Salt directly to Hawaii.

Walter also enjoyed traveling worldwide & playing ukulele for the Aloha Airlines promotion team .

He was involved with the JCC's in his younger years and member of the Elks Club in his later years.

As an actor, Walter had some small movie and TV roles. He was an extra in many of the original Hawaii 5-0 and a few of the original Magnum PI series.

Can you believe he even hung out with Elvis during the "Blue Hawaii" days?!?!

Walter is survived by his wife, Robertha (Chang) Omori, son Weldon (Maria) Omori and daughter Weilynn Omori, granddaughter Yvette Lamphier and great granddaughter Kalea Lamphier. Brother Wallace (Gwen) Omori, sisters Marilyn (George) Osugi and Eunice (Fred) Kaneko.

Funeral service will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Thursday, August 11th at 10 a.m. Visitation at 9 a.m. Masks required.
