Jabsom H.Y.P.E. Welcome to the JABSOM HYPE (Hawaii Youth Program for Excellence) page.

Our activities promote personal growth and include games, skill development, and field trips. Through these activities, we hope to provide these young adults with knowledge that will empower them to make healthful decisions and contribute to their future success. Our HYPE keiki program is led by high school interns and our HYPE teens are led by JABSOM medical students.

Sunday was an exciting day with high school interns, Nina, Kyle, Jaimin, and David! Nina talked to HYPE keiki about the history of maracas and drums, helped them make their own instruments, and taught them different patterns to play together. Kyle continued their musical day while teaching them how to read sheet music and how to play a real song on the recorder. Jaimin and David got our keiki active and taught them how to throw a frisbee, as well as the importance of teamwork and communication. Today our high school interns Laurel and Claire led an awesome summer event for our HYPE keiki! Everyone had fun as we learned about science through experiments mixing oil and water, creating slime, and making our own whipped cream to put on strawberries. Special thanks to volunteers Chloe and Michael for making the day a success.
