Yesterday we celebrated the beautiful life of Kumu Kaipo Kaneakua. He was a laโau lapaโau master, lomi lomi practicioner, kahu, & a man of God. I was blessed to be his student 2012-2014 at Ka Hale Hoโano O Ke Akua. The most important thing he taught me was to p**e, to always ask for forgiveness with your heart and always forgive others, to not hold on to any incidents or problems because if you do, you will lose your balance in life. He preached about hoโo ponopono. He said Lomi is a part of humbling yourself down, so you can hear & do all the movements to help others heal. Lomi starts with spirit (with prayer), your mind & the nervous system, you have to make yoursef right (hoโo ponopono), & lastly you have to cleanse yourself (hoโo maimai)& your blood habits.
I was blessed to do laโau walks with kumu at Queen Kapiโolani Garden where he shared so much knowledge on Hawaiian medicinal plants. He was my first Laโau teacher. He was very soft spoken, sometimes I could barely hear him, but when he spoke about helping and healing others, his teachings were loud & left a huge imprint on me. Iโm forever grateful to aunty Ethel Mau for introducing me to kumu. I will forever be grateful for all your teachings Kumu Kaipo. May your rest easy. ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
