Congratulations to our second cohort of seniors who were students of the BBH Phlebotomy Training Program at Farrington High School.

These students were paid as BBH trainee employees during the 2026 Spring Semester and some of them will continue their employment after graduation.

Modeled after physician residency programs, this innovative program gives young people the opportunity to get hands-on training earlier than they would with a post-high school program.

It is also designed to provide a career pathway to students who may not want to go to college immediately or at all.

“By investing in students today, we are investing in Hawail’s healthcare workforce of tomorrow.” - CEO, Kim-Anh Nguyen.

Meet Kellie, our Hospital Services Tech that helps make sure lifesaving blood components get where they need to go — fast, safe, and ready for patients.

Hospital Services Technicians are a critical part of the blood bank team — supporting hospitals, coordinating deliveries, maintaining inventory, and helping ensure patients receive care without delay. It’s a fast-paced role with real purpose and a direct impact on lives every single day.

Healthcare takes more than doctors and nurses — it takes dedicated teams working behind the scenes to keep care moving.

If you’re looking for a meaningful career in healthcare, logistics, laboratory support, or transfusion medicine, that’s hands-on, community focused, and not your typical 9–5, this could be the opportunity you didn’t know existed.

Aloha, Hawaii ❤️

Right now, platelet donor appointments at BBH are down 70% — creating a critical shortage for local hospitals.

Platelets only last 5–7 days, and here in Hawaii, every donation must travel to the mainland for testing before returning home to patients. There is no room for delays.

Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, trauma victims, and newborns in the NICU are depending on donors right now.
One platelet donation can help save up to THREE lives.

If you’ve donated before, we’re asking you to show up again this week. If you’ve been thinking about donating, now is the time.
