I love the practice of yoga for it shows you exactly where you are at in the moment. 🕉️
My tendency to want to be in better shape or to have a stronger asana practice leads me towards hot yoga or faster pace vinyasa. Having had an injured shoulder for the past 8 months made me not be able to practice in this way or at least take longer periods of rest in between the practice. I realized how to be a better teacher in this way, to teach in a more trauma-sensitive way. I learned to not push others to their strongest expression but offer variations. To accept others with compassion and slowly make are way there together.
My new daily practice looks like yin yoga, breath-work, and meditation. I’ve been experiencing deep release of emotions and the healing of my shoulder in this way. Having this limitation has allowed for me to remember why I started this practice in the first place. It was not to be the best but was to move through my own short comings. My own stiffness, stagnation and mental discomforts. To move through heavy emotions, as even after we’ve released them in the mental body, we still have to release them in our physical bodies. For the body truly does keep the score.
Yatha Pinde Tatha Brahmade.
यथा पिण्डे तथा ब्रह्माण्डे As in the Microcosom so in the Macrocosom. Healing and accepting myself from within has allowed for me to accept others where they are at in their healing journey. 🌬️🌿
