Notice of Important Changes to Altus Dental Subscribers:
As a practice, we strive for complete transparency when it comes to your dental benefits. Recently, we discovered a complex contractual shift involving Altus Dental and the Connection Dental Network. While Altus participates with Connection Dental on a national level, they maintain a separate, independent contract specifically for the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
After consulting with our representatives, we have been informed that any Altus plan based in these three states will now be processed as Out-of-Network. Altus reserves the right to choose which contract they use when processing claims, and unfortunately, they have opted for the state-specific contract rather than the national network. We understand this is confusing—and quite frankly, we share your frustration—but the decision on how claims are processed rests entirely with the insurance carrier.
We understand that network participation is a major factor in how you choose your dental care. To support our patients through this transition, we are implementing the following:
For any claim submitted through Altus that would have otherwise fallen under Connection Dental, we will apply a courtesy adjustment to reflect a discounted rate. While this adjustment significantly lowers the total cost compared to our standard office fees, please be aware that "Out-of-Network" processing may still result in a higher out-of-pocket expense than you previously experienced.
