Allergy season is ramping up...those of us that struggle with asthma, allergies, respiratory inflammation or sinus infections will feel fatigue, nausea, itchy eyes and throat, congestion, and headache pain.
While medication is often the front-line way of managing the symptoms for these conditions, healthy lifestyle choices, as always, can make a huge difference.
Potential side affects from long term use of medications that your health practitioner may or may not have informed you of are
dementia, high blood pressure, diabetic spikes, and sleep issues.
God provides....He has created our bodies to flourish and function and heal themselves if we give them a chance. Here's some daily practices to consider when it comes to staving off allergy-associated conditions: (be sure to talk these over with your physician)
*Flavanoids=antioxidant rich fruits and veggies help to reduce inflamed airways. Incorporate these foods in to your daily routine: berries, red cabbage, kale, grapes and apples.
*Physical activity=a recent study found that folks with asthma who regularly did moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (swimming, walking, stationary bicycling, etc) for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week improved their lung capacity. Avoid high intensity activity and cold air.
*Breathe=yes, sounds simple, but taking 5 minutes, 3 times a day to settle your heart and mind and take deep breaths can increase serotonin. Reducing anxiety, panic, or stress helps regulate breathing and decrease inflammation.
*Fragrances=eliminate artificial fragrances in your home by using fragrance free detergents, cleaning products, room fresheners/candles, personal hygiene products, and lotions/perfumes. Diffusing pure therapeutic-grade essential oils can actually be helpful for airways and will make your home smell fresh.
