Meanwhile, our direct care, nursing, and facility operations teams are on-site and fully prepared to manage any weather-related events in the coming days.

As winter weather approaches this weekend, our campus is preparing the best we can. Still, storms and Arkansas weather bring a heightened sense of worry — especially when freezing temperatures and potential power loss put vulnerable youth at risk.

The children in our care depend on warmth, stability, and uninterrupted support. We never want to face future storms wondering if the power will hold or if our campus will stay safe.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his enduring message of love, justice, and hope.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our administrative offices are closed today. Our house staff, medical care teams, and students remain on campus, and programming continues as scheduled.

Parents and caregivers who need assistance should contact their child’s house phone.

We reflect today on Dr. King’s vision and recommit ourselves to leading with light, love, and compassion.

Youth Home began with a conversation — and a commitment.

In 1966, social worker Carol Burns Smelley and nine Little Rock community members came together to address the urgent need for residential care for youth in foster care. Carol became Youth Home’s founder and first Executive Director, laying the foundation for what would grow into decades of life-changing care.
