Cancer Diagnosis Gives UAMS Medical Student New Perspective - College of Medicine

We were honored to be a part of (future) Dr Norton's care at UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. This young man has shown poise and strength throughout his journey with testicular cancer.

He offers a strong reminder that young men are susceptible to testicular cancer and irregularities should be worked up.

By Susan Van Dusen March 6, 2019 | With his first medical licensing exam in the books, Corbin Norton was ready to relax. “It was a really tough exam. I had been studying for weeks,” the 27-year-old UAMS College of Medicine student said. An Atlanta native, Norton landed at UAMS after his brother,...

We think our inpatient nurses are some of the best around! Glad to be a part of the “family”.

You hear people describe their coworkers as family- in the case of our nurses Carlee Rucker H9 and Tiffani Earls H4 that couldn’t be more true they are sisters 👯
The UAMS staff is one big family here to help you and yours ❤️❤️

Congrats to all of the new medical students!

Urology has seen an increase in applications year over year from UAMS students. Excited to meet the new students in the OR!

Congratulations to Bailee, who received her acceptance letter this week! She had this to say:

"Today, I received this letter notifying me that I have been officially accepted to the UAMS College of Medicine. Although the letter is addressed to me, I am but a very small part of this accomplishment. It is the result of a family who has always supported and encouraged my wildest dreams, professors who challenge me and inspire me, peers/friends who help me be my best and stand by me when I’m not, and a God who never ceases to work out everything so beautifully in his timing. So, I want to say thank you. Thanks to each and every one of you who have made me the person I am today and who have helped me get to this point. I hope that I can use this as another avenue in which I live out my calling to love people better.

So, to summarize: Y’ALL, I’M GOING TO BE A DOCTOR"

Bailee, we look forward to being a part of your journey toward becoming a physician. Congrats!

There are lots of ways to help reduce the likelihood of prostate cancer from developing. Eating fewer calories and exercising to maintain a healthy weight.
