On Sunday night, we experienced heartbreaking loss in our community and within our own organization. As you may have seen reported in the news, a driver crashed a car into a patio at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park, Minn., causing two fatalities and many injuries. Among those gathered on the patio was a group of colleagues from our Methodist Hospital team. Tragically, one of our colleagues was killed in this incident, and four other colleagues were injured.

In Sunday’s incident we lost our colleague Gabe Harvey, a member of our critical care unit at Methodist Hospital and a hospital unit coordinator. We share his name with the permission of Gabe’s partner and family, and we mourn with them.

We also ask that you keep the other four Methodist colleagues, Theo Larson, Tegan D’Albani, Laura Knutsen, and Eric Schefers in your thoughts as they recover from their injuries.

The shock of this news is fresh and hearts across HealthPartners are heavy. Thank you for supporting one another as always, and especially during a painful time such as this.

Hot and humid didn’t stop our team from bringing hope at the Minnesota State Fair today. 💚

Our mental health initiative, Make It OK, joined NAMI Minnesota for their annual Mental Health Day at the Fair to talk to thousands of visitors about ending mental illness stigma so people get the help they deserve.

"Being at Mental Health Day with Make It OK is such an uplifting experience. There's this stereotype that people living with a mental illness are always sad, but that's just a myth. The joy and celebratory atmosphere here prove that mental health is about more than just struggles—it's about finding joy, connecting with others, and celebrating our resilience," said Taylor, Make It OK ambassador and community health coordinator for HealthPartners.

But we know that for new moms and babies, it can also be a long day. That’s why we’re excited to sponsor the Lactation Station with myTalk 107.1 - Minneapolis/St. Paul, giving moms a relaxing, air-conditioned area to breastfeed and change diapers.

Heading to the Minnesota State Fair this year? Of course our team will be there!

Our Regions Hospital Emergency Medical Services event medicine team enters its 16th consecutive state fair as the official first aid provider and will be onsite every day in first aid stations near the West End Market and inside the 4-H building.

Our team treats everything under the late-summer sun, from blisters and bug bites to sunburns and dehydration. Medical treatment is free, with EMTs, paramedics, nurses and doctors from Regions available during fair hours.

Remember to stay hydrated and keep cool while at the fair. See you there!
