🦵⚽️Limited Ankle Flexion = Overworked Peroneals

👉If your Achilles and calves are tight, your ankle can’t flex the way it should, so your body shifts the workload to the peroneal muscles on the outside of your lower leg.

That compensation leads to:
🔥 Muscle fatigue
🔥 Tightness or soreness
🔥 Pain on the outside of the ankle
🔥 Feeling unstable when cutting or changing direction

When the ankle can’t bend properly, your body adjusts in unhealthy ways leading to…
❗ More ankle sprains
❗ Irritated peroneal tendons
❗ Knee and hip compensation
❗ Slower speed and less power

👉 Bottom line:

Tight calves + limited ankle mobility = peroneals doing WAY more than they’re designed to do.

💪The reason for the elbow flare, weight shift and pain she feels during a push-up up is likely a movement pattern issue…

💪The left shoulder stabilizers or rotator cuff muscles are weaker or not activating properly, causing her to subconsciously shift to the stronger side (right) to pick up the slack for the left side. The left shoulder pain most likely comes from overuse or impingement. The humeral head (top of the upper arm bone) might be moving forward or upward due to poor control from the rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers.

👉Why does this happen? Could be...
1. Weak or inhibited left rotator cuff muscles.
2. Poor scapular control- weak serratus anterior, rhomboids, or lower traps.
3. Tight pec minor or anterior deltoid, pulling the shoulder forward.
4. Previous shoulder injury that led to asymmetrical movement patterns.
5. Core or hip imbalance, sometimes causing rotational compensation through the trunk and shoulders.

👉Regardless of the “exact cause,” these little asymmetries can snowball into a major injury down the road. This is why you MUST check yourself…. Before you wreck yourself. 🕶️
