COTG 2021 is proposing a community initiative that will provide free flu vaccine administration to the residents of Brevard County. As we are all aware, influenza poses a significant public health threat, and providing easy access to flu vaccines can be a crucial step in mitigating its impact.

Project Overview: Our proposal centers on launching a free flu vaccine administration program in collaboration with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies. This initiative aims to make flu vaccines accessible to all residents, particularly those who may face barriers to healthcare access.

Objectives:

Increase Immunization Rates: To increase the overall rate of flu vaccination in our community and contribute to herd immunity.
Reduce Healthcare Burden: By lowering the incidence of flu, we aim to alleviate the burden on local healthcare facilities.
Protect Vulnerable Populations: Focus on reaching out to at-risk populations, such as the elderly, children, and individuals with chronic health conditions.
Promote Community Health: Strengthen the health and resilience of our community through preventive measures.
Project Components:

Collaboration: Establish partnerships with local organizations.
Outreach and Education: Develop an awareness campaign to inform residents about the importance of flu vaccination and the availability of free vaccines.
Vaccination Clinics: Set up vaccination clinics at accessible community locations, ensuring that people can receive the vaccine at convenient times.
Tracking and Monitoring: Implement a system to monitor the number of vaccinations administered and gather data to measure the project's success.

Timeline:

10/1/2023-12/31/2023: Project initiation and partnership establishment
Oct-Jan : Outreach and awareness campaign
Oct 1, 2023: Commencement of vaccination clinics
Jan 1,2024: Project evaluation and reporting
Expected Outcomes: By the end of this initiative, we anticipate that a significant portion of the community will have received flu vaccines. This will contribute to a reduction in flu-related illnesses, hospitalizations, and associated healthcare costs.

Request for Support: We kindly request your support in the form of assistance in organizing and promoting this vital community health project. Your partnership will play a crucial role in achieving our shared goal of a healthier and more resilient community.

Thank you for considering our proposal. We are open to discussing this initiative further and welcome the opportunity to meet with you at your earliest convenience to address any questions or concerns. Together, we can make a significant impact on the health and well-being of our community.

Sincerely,

Felicia Prince Chief Director of COTG 2021

Dr. Levi Watkins was a trailblazer in the field of cardiac surgery and a true hero to those whose lives he touched. Born in 1944 in rural Alabama, Dr. Watkins was the first in his family to attend college and went on to earn his medical degree from Stanford University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Watkins pushed the boundaries of what was possible in the field of cardiac surgery, making life-saving contributions that have changed the course of medical history. He was one of the first surgeons to successfully implant a heart defibrillator, a device that regulates heart rhythm and saves the lives of countless patients. He also developed new techniques for heart bypass surgery and was a pioneer in the use of ultrasound to monitor heart function.

Dr. Watkins was more than just a brilliant surgeon. He was also an enthusiastic advocate for diversity in medicine and a mentor to many young African American doctors. He saw his own success as an opportunity to give back, inspiring and supporting future generations of minority physicians and showing them that anything was possible with hard work and determination.

The impact on Dr. Watkins's life and work is felt to this day. He saved countless lives, changed the course of medical history, and inspired a new generation of doctors to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world. He will always be remembered as a true hero in the world of medicine and a shining example of what can be achieved with passion, dedication, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, β€œSpeak to the people of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths to the Lord. On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. For seven days you shall present food offerings to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the Lord. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work. β€œThese are the appointed feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the Lord food offerings, burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day, besides the Lord’s Sabbaths and besides your gifts and besides all your vow offerings and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to the Lord. β€œOn the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord seven days. On the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.

We will be closed for Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) today October 6, 2022, and reopening on October 7, 2022, at 9:00 A.M.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, β€œAlso the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble yourselves [by fasting] and present an offering by fire to the Lord. You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God. If there is any person who will not humble himself on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people [excluding him from the atonement made for them]. If there is any person who does any work on this same day, I will destroy that person from among his people. You shall do no work at all [on that day]. It is a permanent statute throughout your generations wherever you may be. It is to be to you a Sabbath of complete rest, and you shall humble yourselves. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening you shall keep your Sabbath.”
Leviticus 23:26‭-‬32 AMP
