After decades battling symptoms from ulcerative colitis, Jim, an avid weightlifter, faced his biggest challenge yet: a colon cancer diagnosis.

Doctors at Orlando Health's Digestive Health Institute and Orlando Health Colon and Re**al Institute teamed up to develop a treatment plan for Jim that would begin with surgery and leave him with an ostomy bag, a device that collects bodily waste through a surgically created stoma, or opening, in the abdomen.

The stigma weighed heavy on Jim. Could he still lift weights and hit the gym with an ostomy bag? What would simple things like showering or swimming look like?

That's when Jim proved true strength isn't just physical. 💪

Today, he mentors others in the ostomy community, helping them navigate their new normal.

A milestone moment at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital! 👶✨

We are thrilled to welcome baby Koji, the 1,000th baby born at our Center for Women and Babies since opening earlier this year.

Born on November 20, 2025, at a healthy 6 lbs 6 oz, Koji is doing wonderfully along with proud parents Christopher and Katelyn and big sister Akina. Our Labor and Delivery team celebrated the family with special gifts to honor this joyful occasion.

Since opening our doors on January 11, 2025, Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital has been honored to provide compassionate care close to home through the Orlando Health Women’s Institute.

Here is to many more beautiful beginnings! 🧡
