• Brought into the treatment room in its vial
• When opened, properly dated and initialed for tracking
• Clearly labeled — the name should be on the vial and in English.

Sharing one of our favorite recent patient surgical journeys:

Our dermatology team assessed the area on exam and confirmed the diagnosis of a basal cell carcinoma through biopsy (a small tissue sample).

Our patient was scheduled for Mohs surgery, performed by a highly specialty-trained physician who:
1. surgically removes precise tissue layers at the biopsy site,
2. processes the tissue on location,
3. reads/examines the microscopic samples themselves to determine when no cancer cells remain = cure!

She then had reconstruction scheduled with Dr. Rebecca Novo, our plastic surgeon.

A double rotation flap (moving the flexible areas of scalp) was planned to optimize hair growth and preserve the hairline.

Our patient is healed and happy with her results. She continues with regular skin exams (every 6–12 months), wears mineral SPF 30+ daily, and uses hats when outdoors during peak UV hours 📈.

SYNERGY is what we do. Together we are better than individually. 🤝
