As we enter into this next surge of the pandemic, it is clear that vaccination overwhelmingly protects you from serious complications of Covid 19. We strongly encourage anyone over 12 who can get the vaccine, to get it as soon as possible. Additionally, we encourage you to remain vigilant with hand hygiene, social distancing and mask wearing to help reduce the spread of the virus.

For the health and safety of all, appropriate face masks remain a requirement of all patients, visitors and staff who visit our office in person.

Please be advised that the phone lines to the office are currently down. The patient portal is still accessible. We are working with Spectrum to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

The Department of Health (DOH) is controlling the distribution of the vaccine here in Florida and we will do our best to keep you updated on if and when the vaccine will be made available to clinics for distribution. Omni healthcare has been an integral part of covid testing in Brevard County and I believe they are taking reservations for anticipated administration of the vaccine in upcoming weeks.

Both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are currently being administered. Several others are looking promising for emergency approval in the near future.

Because the supply of COVID-19 vaccine will be limited at first, CDC recommends that initial supplies of the vaccine be allocated to certain individuals at risk for contracting the virus. In the initial phase of vaccine distribution, OMNI Healthcare plans to vaccinate healthcare workers in Brevard County and OMNI patients who are over 65 or over 50 with a chronic illness. The Centers for Disease Control specifies chronic illness as obesity, severe obesity, diabetes, cryptogenic organizing pneumonia / COP, heart condition, chronic kidney, cancer, smoking, solid organ transplant, and sickle cell disease.

If you would like to sign up for the vaccine now, the process to sign up through OMNI is simple. Call the OMNI Healthcare COVID-19 Center at (321) 802- 5515.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility while we work toward a solution to this pandemic. We will keep you updated on this site and www.COVID19vaccinebrevard.com as more information is released.

If you are scheduling a sports physical for your teen please be aware of the new requirement for Brevard Public schools.

A message from BREVARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Brevard Public Schools is creating a policy mandating electrocardiogram (ECG) testing for all our student athletes. Electrocardiograms help identify athletes who may be at risk for sudden death from loss of heart function. An ECG may also assist with diagnosing several different heart conditions that put athletes at risk. Brevard Public Schools recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Who We Play For (WWPF), an organization committed to early identification of cardiac conditions in student athletes.
At the bottom of this note is a list of ECG Heart Screenings being offered starting Saturday June 1 at locations across Brevard County.
ECG Testing will be REQUIRED for all Winter sports.
WHAT'S NEXT: The policy-creation process has several steps and multiple opportunities for community discussion and input. Our anticipated timeline will be to hold a Board Workshop in July, a Board Work Session in August, and to present a policy to the Board for approval in September.
Prior to policy revision, however, Brevard Public Schools will be adding an ECG Consent/Opt Out Form to all 2019-2020 athletic packets. All student athletes in grades 7–12, who plan on participating in Fall sports, will need a completed ECG Consent/Opt Out Form. The ECG Consent/Opt-Out Form either gives WWPF permission to administer an ECG at one of several dates already established around the county or allows parents/guardians to decline and ‘opt out’ of testing. Regardless of which decision parents/guardians make related to ECG testing, the ECG Consent/Opt Out Form is required for athletic participating for the 2019/20 school year.
As Brevard Public Schools is moving toward mandating not just ECG Consent/Opt Out Form, but the ECG testing itself, we want to highly encourage parents/guardians to take advantage of our currently scheduled ECG Testing. Students will be able to have the ECG done at the dates and times listed at a cost of $20. If a student qualifies for free or reduced lunch status, they are eligible for a free screening through Who We Play For.
If a student’s screening comes back as needing “follow-up” or with a “high risk” designation, they will not be allowed to participate in athletics until he/she receives a medical release indicating that the student followed up with a physician and the physician has released them to fully participate in athletics.
If parents/guardians have a previously completed ECG or would like their child to have an ECG completed by their personal physician, documentation should be included as part of the required physical forms.
ECG Heart Screenings will be offered at the following locations on the dates and times listed:
