Zareena Shafi is a Board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a passion for pediatric medicine and helping children lead happy and healthy lives. She has been practicing for almost two years. She loves taking the time to educate parents about their child’s health. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (2018), Masters of Science in Nursing (2020), and Doctorate in Nurse Practice (2023) from the University of South Florida. Zareena practiced as a registered nurse for five years. She was previously practicing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at pediatric primary care clinic in Riverview. She made the decision to move closer to her family in Brevard County; therefore, she chose to join our practice and we are so happy to have her on our team. Zareena would be absolutely delighted to aid in your child’s healthcare journey.

In Central Florida, RSV season begins in August and lasts til March. Thankfully, there are options to protect your baby. Beyfortus is recommended for babies under 1 year of age entering their first RSV season. We carry both private and Medicaid options for our patients. As a practice, we are deeply concerned about recent proposals to remove the Haemophilus Infulenzae Type B (HIB) and Pneumococcal Conjugate (PCV) vaccines from Florida's mandatory school immunization schedule. The health department has announced that other vaccinations including measles, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, mumps, and tetanus will remain in place unless updated through legislation.
However, these vaccines are not optional luxuries. They are essential tools that protect infants and young children from life-threatening infections such as
-Meningitis (infection of the brain and spinal cord)
-Sepsis (a life-threatening blood infection)
-Pneumonia
-Epiglottitis (An airway infection that can block breathing)
-Bone and joint infections

Before these vaccines were introduced, these illnesses caused thousands of hospitalizations and deaths every year. Thanks to these vaccines, these illnesses are now rare. But without continued protection, they can and will return.

We urge policymakers to listen to medical experts and public health data. No baby should suffer from disease we can prevent. Vaccines save lives. Let's not turn back the clock.
