Pain is not just a signal from the body.
It is also a perception shaped by the brain and nervous system.

In this conversation with Dr. Janelle Biele, Physical Therapist, we talk about why communication between patient and provider is so important.

Two people can experience the same injury very differently. Sleep, stress, emotional load, and nervous system sensitivity can all amplify how pain is felt.

That is why personalized care matters.

Your experience, how the pain feels to you, when it shows up, what makes it better or worse, all of that helps guide the treatment plan.

When providers listen closely and patients feel comfortable sharing what they are experiencing, care becomes more precise and more effective.

Pain is complex. Treatment should be thoughtful and individualized too.

Pelvic floor symptoms are not always about weakness.

In this conversation with Dr. Lorraine, pelvic floor physical therapist, we talk about a patient who was told to keep strengthening her pelvic floor. But every time she did, her symptoms actually got worse.

When we evaluated her, we saw something different.

Her pelvic floor was already overactive and stuck in fight or flight. Every time her nervous system became stressed, her pelvic floor would flare up again.

Instead of more strengthening, what helped was regulating the nervous system and calming the muscles.

Now she comes in for maintenance care, and when her body starts to shift into that stress response again, treatment helps bring everything back to baseline.

The pelvic floor does not work in isolation.
It is deeply connected to the nervous system, stress, and emotional state.

This is why understanding the root cause matters.

Sleep is not just about feeling rested.

It affects your mood, memory, immune system, hormones, and overall health.

When sleep is off, the whole body feels it.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sleep problems are often connected to imbalances in the nervous system, stress levels, digestion, or circulation.

Acupuncture helps regulate the body so sleep can happen naturally.

By calming the nervous system and supporting the body’s natural rhythms, many patients notice:

• Falling asleep more easily
• Deeper, more restorative sleep
• Less nighttime waking
• Feeling more refreshed in the morning

Sleep is one of the most important foundations of health. When it improves, everything else often improves too.

If sleep has been a struggle, your body may simply need support getting back into balance.

The one thing every woman should know about Pelvic Floor?

Your pelvic floor is just a muscle.

But it’s one of the most misunderstood muscles in the body.

In this conversation with Dr. Lorraine, pelvic floor physical therapist and founder of Doctor of Women’s Health, we talk about one of the biggest myths women hear all the time. That pelvic floor problems always mean weakness.

The truth is more nuanced.

Like any other muscle in the body, the pelvic floor can be weak, tight, overactive, or uncoordinated. And many women are told to do endless Kegels without ever being evaluated first.

Understanding that the pelvic floor is simply a muscle changes everything. It means there are ways to restore balance and function.

This is why conversations between providers matter. When physical therapy and acupuncture work together, we can support the body from multiple angles and help patients get real results.

If you are dealing with pelvic pain, leakage, pressure, or discomfort, know that these symptoms are common but they are not something you have to live with.

Many of the patients who walk into our clinic here in Melbourne tell us the same thing. They have tried many things and are simply looking for real answers and real relief.

Reviews like this mean so much to our entire team. Every person here plays a role in creating a space where patients feel heard, supported, and cared for.

Thank you for trusting Dr. Andrea and the Bodhi team with your care.

Dry needling and acupuncture often get confused, but they come from very different treatment philosophies.

In this conversation with Dr. Lorraine, pelvic floor physical therapist and founder of Doctor of Women’s Health, we talk about how dry needling is used in physical therapy to target trigger points, tight muscles, and connective tissue. It can be a helpful tool, especially for active patients who want to get back to movement quickly.

At Bodhi TCM Acupuncture in Melbourne, we use both dry needling and acupuncture. Dry needling can help release local muscle tension, while acupuncture works on a broader level to regulate the nervous system and support the whole body.

Because these techniques use needles and interact with important anatomical structures, it is essential that they are performed by trained and licensed practitioners with specialized education in needling techniques, anatomy, and patient safety.

Different tools. Different goals. Thoughtfully combined, they can complement each other and support better outcomes.

This episode is part of our Provider Talks series where we sit down with trusted healthcare professionals to share real clinical insight and help patients better understand their care.

Acupuncture is not just for back pain.

That is one of the biggest misconceptions we hear at our practice in Melbourne FL

There are thousands of studies showing acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, hormones, sleep, digestion, immunity, and stress regulation. When the nervous system shifts, the whole body responds.

Pain relief is often the first thing people notice.

But it is rarely the only change.

If you have been curious about acupuncture but thought it was only for injuries, this is your sign to learn more.

Personalized Traditional Chinese Medicine here in Melbourne, FL.

Serving Brevard County with goal focused care.

Ready to see what your body is capable of? We are here for you

Personalized care is not optional. It is essential.

In our conversation with Dr. Lorraine, pelvic floor physical therapist, we talked about something that gets missed far too often.

Treatment should not look the same for everyone.

Two people can walk in with “the same diagnosis” and need completely different care.

Different nervous systems.
Different trauma history.
Different strength levels.
Different stress loads.

That means:

• Exercises are individualized
• Acupuncture points are selected based on your pattern
• Intensity matters
• Homework should support, not overwhelm
• Progress is paced to your body

More is not always better.
Stronger is not always the goal.

And once symptoms improve?
Maintenance still matters.

Pelvic floor health, nervous system regulation, hormones, pain recovery… this is lifelong care.

Just like dental cleanings.
Just like strength training.

Here in Melbourne, FL, we believe integrative care means collaboration. PT and acupuncture working together. Personalized. Thoughtful. Goal focused.

Because your body deserves more than a protocol.

When most women hear “pelvic floor issues,” they think weakness.

But that is not what we see most often.

In this reel, Dr. Sherri Lorraine, pelvic floor PT and founder of Doctor of Women’s Health in Melbourne, FL, explains a big misconception.

About 75 to 80 percent of patients she treats are actually hypertonic. That means the muscles are stuck in tension or spasm. Not weak. Not loose. Overactive.

And doing more kegels can make it worse.

A true kegel is not just a squeeze. It is a squeeze, lift, and shift. Most people are only squeezing. If the muscle is already tight, adding more tension just locks it in further.

Pelvic floor symptoms can show up after trauma, falls, childbirth, or even stress. The body goes into a guarding reflex and sometimes it never fully resets.

This is why proper evaluation matters.

We are grateful to collaborate with specialists like Dr. Lorraine so women in Melbourne, FL have access to care that looks deeper than “just strengthen it.”

Pelvic floor.

You hear the term all the time.
But what is it actually?

In this reel, Dr. Sherri Lorraine, pelvic floor PT and founder of Doctor of Women’s Health in Melbourne, FL, explains it clearly.

Your pelvic floor is your foundation.

It is part of your inner core system, working together with:

• Your diaphragm
• Your transverse abdominis
• Your multifidus

These muscles stabilize your spine so your arms and legs can move well. They support posture, breathing, balance, and control.

If the foundation is not working well, the rest of the system cannot perform the way it should.

Strong outer muscles mean very little if the inner core is not coordinated.

We are grateful to collaborate with specialists like Dr. Lorraine to support women with whole body care.
