Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian Ginseng)
It is used for improving mental clarity and emotional stamina
Also known as Siberian Ginseng, this herb helps enhance mental clarity and emotional stamina during stressful situations and boosts physical endurance. It also helps improve circulation, boost mood, and protect the immune system. You’ll also find Ginseng used in cases of exhaustion and poor immune function, as well as for conditions like chronic fatigue caused by a virus. (e.g., Epstein Barr, Cytomegalovirus).

Ginseng can improve an individual’s response to stress by acting directly on the hypothalamus to regulate hormones, including mineral-corticoids, glucocorticoids, and reproductive hormones. It reduces excessive corticotropin release and has also been reported to affect noradrenalin responses in the brain, which blunts the stress response.

I get a lot of questions about ice baths, Cold Water immersion, or CWI. "In a recent well-designed study in The Journal of Physiology, Peake and colleagues (2017) incorporated a number of local (gene expression of a muscle homogenate) and systemic (blood plasma/serum concentration) inflammatory markers to investigate the effectiveness of CWI compared with an active recovery treatment".

"Importantly, and perhaps surprisingly, based on the traditional notion that CWI reduces inflammation, Peake and colleagues demonstrated that CWI had no impact on inflammatory measures and cellular stress compared to the active recovery trial".

Is the ice bath finally melting? Cold water immersion is no greater than active recovery upon local and systemic inflammatory cellular stress in humans
