On Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, we invite you to hold space for the inner worlds of children and teens

For many children and teens, behaviors like anger, withdrawal, or “acting out” are signals of pain, confusion, or fear that matter just as much as any adult’s. What Does EMDR Therapy Actually Do?

If you've heard about EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) but aren't sure what it is, let us explain.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process traumatic memories and experiences. When we experience trauma, our brain can get "stuck," replaying painful memories over and over. EMDR helps unlock that stuck processing so you can heal.

During EMDR therapy, we use bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sounds) while you process traumatic memories. This helps your brain reprocess the memory in a safe, controlled way, reducing its emotional intensity.

The result? Clients often experience significant relief from PTSD, anxiety, and trauma symptoms in a shorter timeframe than traditional talk therapy alone.
