I wanted to take a moment to talk about detoxing. Body and spirit! You know those trendy detox kits and little bottles that cost a fortune? They often leave us feeling worse instead of better. But do we really need them? Honestly, I don’t think so.
Instead, let’s focus on the natural detoxifiers that are already in our food—specifically, antioxidants. Our bodies are made up of atoms that carry positive and negative charges, and sometimes extra oxygen molecules, or free radicals, can throw things out of balance. While some free radicals are helpful for our immune system, too many can lead to trouble, like DNA damage and cell harm.
That’s where antioxidants come into play. They help neutralize these unbalanced molecules, allowing our bodies to detox in the healthiest way possible—no pricey products needed!
So, where can we find these powerful antioxidants? They’re in a lot of the foods we enjoy! Here are some favorites:
Herbs: clove, cinnamon, oregano, turmeric, cocoa, cumin, dried parsley, basil, ginger, thyme!
Foods: tomatoes, carrots, pumpkin seeds, sweet potatoes, pomegranates, strawberries, kale, broccoli, grapes or red wine, squash, and raspberries!
And one of the best ways to detox our spirits is by getting outside. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like that feeling of being in nature—it’s refreshing and grounding at the same time. Being out there surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors and away from electronic is so good for the soul!
