A police officer was testing three blondes who were eager to become detectives. To assess their observational skills, he showed the first blonde a picture of a suspect for five seconds before turning it face-down.

“This is your suspect,” he said. “How would you recognize him?”

The first blonde smiled confidently and replied, “That’s easy! We’ll catch him quickly because he only has one eye!”

The officer sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “That’s because it’s a *profile picture*—you’re only seeing one side of his face.”

Trying to keep his patience, he turned to the second blonde, showed her the same picture, and asked, “This is your suspect. How would you recognize him?”

The second blonde giggled, twirled a strand of her hair, and said, “Well, that’s even easier! He only has one ear!”

The officer groaned, visibly annoyed. “Ladies, it’s a profile shot! Of course you can only see one eye and one ear! Let’s try this one more time.”

He handed the photo to the third blonde, who studied it carefully, her brow furrowed in concentration.

“This is your suspect,” the officer said sternly. “How would you recognize him? And please… think before you answer.”

The third blonde squinted at the picture for a moment, then confidently announced, “The suspect wears contact lenses.”

The officer blinked, stunned. “Contact lenses?” he repeated. “That’s… an interesting guess.” Not sure what to make of it, he excused himself and went to check the suspect’s file. A few minutes later, he returned, looking astonished.

“You were right!” he said. “The suspect does wear contact lenses. That’s some impressive detective work! But… how did you figure that out?”

The third blonde beamed with pride and replied, “Well, duh! He can’t wear regular glasses—he only has one eye and one ear!”
