Stay aware of bladder irritants like sugar, coffee, and cocktails. If you enjoy a bladder irritant this holiday be sure to pair it with a glass of water to help reduce bladder lining irritation.
Be mindful of how often you p*e… a healthy bladder should relieve its contents every 2-4 hours.
Pay attention to your bathroom body mechanics – always sit on the toilet to p*e and do slow gentle breathing to help relax the muscles that cradle the bladder and allow a full release of your bladder contents.
If you cough, sneeze, or pick something up that’s heavy, use your kegel muscles to support the bladder. “squeeze then sneeze”!
If you continue to have bladder issues after working on these healthy bladder tips reach out to a pelvic floor therapist! Long car trips can be tough on the bladder. A healthy bladder should relieve its contents every 2-4 hours.

Help your body achieve this 2-4 hour mark with healthy bladder habits!
1️⃣Avoid the major bladder irritants before a car ride – such as coffee, tea, cola drinks (drinks with bubbles), chocolate, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, sugar, and ci******es.
2️⃣Keep the bladder lining happy with slow hydration – drinking 50-80 ounces of water throughout the day.
3️⃣Ensure you are getting a full release of your bladder contents by sitting on the toilet and using slow gentle breathing to soften your muscles for complete bladder emptying.

Staying aware of bladder irritants and keeping the bladder lining happy will make a huge difference for a successful car trip!

Decreasing tension in the pelvic floor muscles can reduce menstrual pain. A pelvic floor therapist can teach you specific stretches and relaxation techniques to encourage reduced guarding and pain symptoms during your cycle.
4 quick tips to start reducing menstrual pain today:
1️⃣Reduce bloating by drinking plenty of water and avoiding fried foods, refined sugar, and red meat.
2️⃣A hot bath with Epsom salt or a heating pad on the abdomen will soften and relax muscle cramps.
3️⃣Walking and gentle hip opening yoga will promote blood flow and lymph flow reducing muscle spasm and cramping.
4️⃣The Journal of Molecular Science found Vitamin D can reduce prostaglandins! This means sunshine can help reduce the levels of prostaglandins, which cause the uterus to contract as the endometrial cells sluff off the lining of the uterus. So get outside and enjoy some sunshine!
