It's International Babywearing Week! There are lots and lots of advantages to carrying your baby in a sling or baby carrier, not least that they tend to be more settled, and sleep more.

All human babies are born premature, compared to other mammals. They can move within minutes or hours. Human babies don't move until they are around 8 months. If you can move you can get to food and away from danger. If you can't move, the world is a scary place. That's why human babies want to be held a lot. You are their means of safety and food.

Crying is the only way babies can get attention. Once up in your arms they feel safe.

Did you know that when a baby is held when they are crying they have low levels of cortisol (stress hormone) than if they are crying and not held?
