Today we recognize Rosie the Riveter Day and honor the women who stepped forward on the home front during World War II to support our nation’s war effort.
When America called, they answered. They worked in factories, shipyards, and airfields, building the aircraft, ships, and equipment that helped secure victory. Their strength, determination, and patriotism reshaped our workforce and proved that service to country takes many forms.
As we mark this day, we also reflect on the recent passing of one of the last living Rosies. With her passing, we are reminded that the Greatest Generation is leaving us, and it is now our responsibility to preserve their stories and carry their legacy forward.
For many Veterans and military families, Rosie represents the mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers who did their part while loved ones were deployed overseas. Their contribution was vital. Their example still inspires.
We invite our Legion family to share photos or stories of the Rosies in your life. If your Post is hosting a recognition event or has historic photos to share, post them in the comments. Let us honor these remarkable women together.
