Midland Health proudly recognizes Lori Forbus, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, Recognition Program Manager and nurse leader, for being named a Runner-Up Honoree for the DAISY Leadership in Nursing Ethics Award.

This national recognition, developed through a collaboration between the DAISY Foundation and the American Nurses Association’s Center for Ethics and Human Rights, honors nurse leaders whose work reflects the highest standards of compassion, integrity, and ethical practice in nursing.

Lori was acknowledged for her impactful leadership on the Nurse Staffing Advisory Council, where she helped establish standardized Unit-Based Councils that empower nurses to identify staffing, safety, and ethical concerns at the unit level and elevate solutions across the system. Her influence extends beyond Midland Health through her work with the Texas Nurses Association, advancing ethical dialogue and best practices across the region.

Her leadership is a powerful example of how ethical nursing practice shapes stronger teams, safer care, and a more resilient healthcare system. Congratulations, Lori, on this well-deserved recognition.

Celebrating achievement takes a community, and this year, we are especially grateful for Cerdafied Creations freelance photographer, entrepreneur, and fellow nurse, for donating her time and talent to honor Midland Health’s graduating nurses. 📸💙

Gianna Guzman, who works as a nurse for MISD, has spent the last decade capturing meaningful moments throughout the community. Her gift to this year’s graduates is helping highlight one of the most important milestones in their journey through beautiful professional photos.

The Grad Gallery is a photography exhibition featuring this year’s nurse graduates from Midland Health. Throughout Nurses Week, May 4–10, we will showcase each graduate’s photo, name, school, and degree in celebration of those earning their associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate.

Thank you, Gianna, for giving back in such a meaningful way and for helping us honor these nurses and their accomplishments with images they will treasure for years to come.

Please join us in celebrating Alexia “Lexi” Rodriguez, recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at Midland Health. 🌼

Lexi was nominated by a patient’s family member after providing exceptional care during a life-threatening emergency. In a moment filled with uncertainty, Lexi’s calm, methodical, and compassionate approach brought clarity and comfort to both the patient and his family.

As shared in the nomination, “Without fast action taken by Lexi, he may not have fared so well.” From starting an IV with remarkable skill to taking the time to explain a serious diagnosis in a way that could be clearly understood, Lexi ensured her patient felt informed, safe, and supported every step of the way.

What stood out most was her ability to make the patient feel like he was her only priority, even in the fast-paced environment of the Emergency Department. “He was comfortable enough to ask questions… because she made him feel like he was her only patient.”

The DAISY Award recognizes nurses whose clinical excellence and compassion leave a lasting impact on patients and families. Lexi embodies these qualities in every sense.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Kit Bredimus, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President at Midland Health, on being named Volunteer of the Month by CASA of West Texas. 💙

Beyond his leadership in healthcare, Dr. Bredimus is making a powerful difference in the lives of children in our community. As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), he serves as a voice for children in foster care—many of whom have experienced abuse or neglect and face constant change in homes, schools, and caregivers.

CASA volunteers are specially trained and appointed by judges to advocate for a child’s best interests, ensuring their needs are heard in court and in the community. For many children, a CASA volunteer becomes the one consistent, trusted adult in their life during an incredibly uncertain time.

In West Texas alone, hundreds of children rely on CASA advocates to help guide them toward safe, stable, and permanent homes.

Dr. Bredimus’ commitment reflects a deep dedication not only to healthcare, but to the well-being of children and families across our region.

Congratulations, Dr. Bredimus, and thank you for the difference you make—both inside our hospital and throughout our community.
