The theme for this year’s National Skilled Nursing Care Week is Moments in Bloom. At first glance, it may seem abstract — but as the American Health Care Association explains, “Moments in Bloom” reflects how everyday acts of compassion, connection, and teamwork grow into meaningful experiences for residents, families, and staff. It reminds us that both big and small moments, when nurtured, can flourish into purpose and joy.
In many ways, this theme mirrors our own guiding standard — Every Person Is Crucial (EPIC) and the 4C’s that define Focused Care. Skilled nursing thrives when every individual, in every role, performs with intention and accountability. Your Contribution strengthens the resident experience; your Congruency ensures our actions align with our mission; your Commitment provides stability for residents, families, and colleagues; and your Competence upholds the quality of care that distinguishes our communities.
Just as nature’s blooms are temporary yet transformative, the moments we create in skilled nursing are fleeting but deeply meaningful. When a resident laughs, when a family shares a memory, when a colleague offers support — these are our moments in bloom. They remind us that excellence in care is not only measured by outcomes, but by the human connections that make those outcomes possible.
As you celebrate Skilled Nursing Care Week, I encourage you to notice and nurture these moments. For many of the residents you serve, you are the beauty, color, and vitality that make life meaningful.
Thank you for your professionalism, your compassion, and your continued dedication to the EPIC standard that defines Focused Care.
