a reminder, energy drinks are not a friend of acne prone skin here’s why:

first energy drinks raises your cortisol levels which are known to be your stress levels and causes your nervous system (body) to be in flight or fight

when cortisol levels rise, our skin produces more oils and sebum which can cause clogged pores, breakouts & increase inflammation in the body as well for your SKIN

second energy drinks contains a high concentration of both b12 and biotin which are NOT for acne prone skin 🚩

b12: causes the gene expression of skin bacteria, (propionibacterium acnes) This leads to increased production of porphyrins by the bacteria, which are known to promote inflammation and breakouts

biotin: produce more skin cells which isn’t great as acne prone skin struggles with a condition called retention hyperkeratosis which means they produce more skin cells than the average person

* also b12 is in most pre workouts so please check, if you are in your gym era (I’ll be making a post about that next)
