We’re wrapping up day two of ANHA’s "Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program (NIPP(C)) – Nipping Infections in the Bud."

Infection prevention professionals, administrators, and key staff from across the state gathered in Montgomery to strengthen best practices, enhance compliance efforts, and advance infection control standards in their facilities.

A special thank you to our speaker, A.C. Burke, for sharing her expertise, and to all who participated. Congratulating Pam Vogt, most recently of Highlands Care Center in Scottsboro, on her well-earned retirement after a remarkable 40-year career in long-term care.

Pam exemplified excellence, leadership, and compassion throughout her career, serving in numerous clinical, educational, and leadership roles. Her impact extended statewide through more than ten years as Chair of the ANHA Education Committee, where she helped strengthen professional standards and education across Alabama.

We are grateful for her extraordinary contributions to residents, families, and the long-term care community. Wishing her joy and well-deserved time with her family in this next chapter. 💙

Meet JD – the beloved nursing home cat at Hatley Health Care 🐾

JD didn’t arrive through a formal program — he simply showed up one day and chose his forever family. And from that moment on, residents and staff fell completely in love.

From riding the halls in his stroller like he owns the place to snuggling with residents and visiting staff, JD brings comfort, laughter, and calm to the community every single day. The smiles he sparks and the gentle moments he creates are a reminder that sometimes the best therapy has four paws and a very big heart.
