As we end this Thanksgiving Day
I’ve been reflecting on the beautiful families I’ve had the honor of supporting this year. Every birth story is different, every journey to parenthood is unique but one thing remains the same: the strength, love, and resilience that parents bring into the world with their babies.

I’m thankful for…
✨ The moms who trusted me in their most vulnerable moments
✨ The partners who loved fiercely and supported wholeheartedly
✨ The tiny humans who made their arrival earth-side and changed everything
✨ The incredible privilege of being invited into sacred birth spaces

Birth work isn’t just a job it’s a calling, and this week I’m especially grateful to do what I love.

Whether you’re preparing for childbirth, adjusting to newborn life, grieving expectations, or celebrating milestones… you are seen, supported, and worthy of rest. 🤍

Wishing every family a week full of:
🍂 Gentle moments
🍂 Connection
🍂 Healing
🍂 And deep gratitude for the season you’re in

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

✈️ Traveling for the holidays with a baby? Here are some doula-approved tips to make the trip smoother for everyone:

🌡️ Dress baby in layers
Temperature changes a lot in cars, planes, and houses. Layers make it easy to add or remove clothing without disturbing sleep or comfort.

😵‍💫 Watch for signs of overstimulation
Holiday gatherings can be loud and busy. If baby starts crying, turning away, or avoiding eye contact, they may need a break and that’s completely normal.

🍼 Feed baby in a separate room for a reset
Sometimes both baby and mom need a breather. A quiet space can help regulate nervous systems, return to calm, and make feedings more peaceful.

🧳 Bring blackout window coverings
A dark sleep space helps maintain naps and bedtime routines even away from home.

🧴 Keep hand sanitizer handy
Around lots of people = lots of germs. A little sanitizing goes a long way in protecting baby during travel season.

🤱 Babywear to reduce being passed around
It provides comfort and security for baby and it’s a great way to avoid overwhelm without having to say “no” 20 times.

🔴 Swap white night lights for a red one
Red light supports melatonin and sleep cycles much better than white light. Perfect for night feeds and diaper changes in unfamiliar spaces.

Remember:
You’re not “doing the holidays wrong” if you protect your baby’s peace.
You’re not “being dramatic” You’re being attentive, responsive, and tuned in to your little one.

Wherever you’re spending the holidays, I hope you and your baby feel safe, seen, and supported. 🤍

When this text was opened, it was such a humbling reminder of why I do this work.

I don’t just want to support families physically and emotionally, but I strive to carry the peace of Christ into every birth I attend and every postpartum home. If the environment around you feels overwhelming, you need someone who can help create calm and provide rounded support.

Serving families is my ministry, and I’m grateful when He shines through.

The more you know, the more you understand to ask questions and build your birth team with a doula. We want you to know all your options!

An excellent article today from . Note the lack of evidence supporting the use of continuous fetal monitoring, the clear influence of business and economics, and the money grab from AI companies who claim studies support their product - when in fact they don’t - resulting in remote monitoring hubs.

I especially love that placenta accreta is described early in the article so the public can see that cesareans carry risk. As a result, we need to ensure that they occur only when needed or wanted.

Note that the photo for this article is of a remote monitoring hub. One such hub is up to 60 miles away from the hospital in which the woman is laboring.

“Nearly every woman who gives birth in an American hospital is strapped with a belt of sensors to track the baby’s heartbeat. If the pattern is deemed abnormal — too slow, for example — doctors often call for an emergency C-section.

But this round-the-clock monitoring, the most common obstetric procedure in the country, rarely helps baby or mother. Decades of research have shown that the tool does not reliably predict fetal distress. In fact, experts say, it leads to many unnecessary surgeries as doctors overreact to its ever-changing readouts.

The obstetrics field has long ignored these problems. Now, it’s putting more trust than ever on the flawed technology, often prioritizing business and legal concerns ahead of what’s best for patients, The New York Times found.

This fall, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists updated its guidelines on continuous monitoring, sanctioning it even as some other wealthy countries have cautioned against its routine use…

All three remote hubs, along with 400 other hospitals around the country, use A.I. software to help analyze the heart data. The software’s maker, PeriGen, has claimed on its website that 50 studies backed up its products.

But none of the studies found that the technology improved birth outcomes. PeriGen removed the list of studies after an inquiry from The Times. The company’s chief executive, Matthew Sappern, acknowledged that no clinical trials had shown benefits.”
