🎉 A memorable evening for members of the CAVHCS Community Living Center in Tuskegee! Staff hosted a “VA Prom” to honor and celebrate our Veterans with dancing, music and meaningful connection. It was a night of joy and dignity—fitting for those who have served. 🎗️

It was a special night in Tuskegee for a group of veterans, as leaders organized a prom at a VA nursing home.

✨ We’re proud to spotlight how CAVHCS is expanding care beyond the clinic walls. Our Mobile Medical Unit is reaching Veterans who are homeless or at risk, directly in their communities. Enabled by a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, social workers, and peer support specialists, the unit provides vaccinations, hygiene supplies, and support to remove barriers to care.

CAVHCS 85th Anniversary Observance has been postponed until Monday, December 15, 2025.This change allows us to give this milestone the recognition it deserves and to ensure full participation by community partners. We look forward to celebrating 85 years of service to Veterans across Central Alabama and beyond.

In observance of Veterans Day, CAVHCS will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, for regular business hours. The Emergency Department at 215 Perry Hill Road will be open on the holiday. In a mental health crisis, dial the Veterans Crisis Line at 988, then press 1, or text 83255.

CAVHCS will hold an 85th anniversary observance at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Montgomery Campus, 215 Perry Hill Road, in the Multipurpose Room, First Floor E-104. The event will commemorate the opening of the Montgomery VA facility in 1940 and recognize its role in providing care to Veterans for eight and a half decades.

On Thursday, October 16, Dothan staff at the Dothan Community-Based Outpatient Clinic met Gerald Greathouse, a 95-year-old Veteran whose cheerful demeanor and positivity brightened the entire facility. His gratitude for the care he received reflected the trust and bond shared between Veterans and CAVHCS team. Staff captured the visit with a photo, an enduring reminder of his strength, resilience, and joy. Pictured left to right (appropriate permission was received for the picture) are Licensed Practical Nurse Felicia Jones, Dietitian Annaleise Porta, VISN 7 Clinical Resource Hub Physician Assistant Ishtyaq Qadri, and Registered Nurse Julia Harrison, the dedicated members of PACT Team 3 (Telehealth) at the Dothan clinic.
