National Handwashing Awareness Month
At Jackson Surgery Center, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do — and one of the simplest, most effective ways to prevent illness is right at our fingertips: proper handwashing.
Handwashing helps stop the spread of germs that cause colds, flu, and many infectious diseases. This month, we’re reminding our patients, staff, and community to follow the basics:
👉 Wash for at least 20 seconds with soap and water
👉 Scrub all areas — palms, backs of hands, between fingers, under nails
👉 Wash often, especially before eating and after coughing, sneezing, or visiting public spaces
👉 Use hand sanitizer when soap and water aren’t available

We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays at the Jackson Surgery Center Christmas party! It was a great evening filled with laughter, festive cheer, and time spent together outside of our busy workdays.

Big news at Jackson Surgery Center.
We are proud to share a major accomplishment that reflects the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of our entire JSC family.
Jackson Surgery Center participates in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama’s ASC Value-Based Care incentive program, and thanks to our team’s commitment to excellence, we met all four of the program’s metric goals for 2025, earning a 4% increase in claim reimbursements for 2026. This follows last year’s strong performance when we met two out of four goals and earned a 2% increase. Our continued improvement speaks directly to the consistency and quality of care our team delivers every day.
These measures highlight meaningful outcomes in timely discharges, reduced unplanned readmissions, and safe, efficient surgical care. Thank you to every member of our team. Each of you played a vital role in achieving this success, and it demonstrates what is possible when a team moves forward with shared purpose.
As we celebrate this milestone, it is also important to affirm that Jackson Hospital remains open and fully serving our community with the quality healthcare you have trusted for almost 80 years. Our mission is strong, and our commitment to our patients and community has never been clearer.

Last year at our Christmas party, we invited our Jackson Surgery Center team to enter the raffle by sharing why working at JSC is meaningful to them.

Jackson Surgery Center is and independent free standing outpatient surgery center which means, any credentialed physician may utilize our surgery center.
