Carol Wright, at 82 years old, accomplished something remarkable this April by finishing the 2024 Boston Marathon in 5 hours and 54 minutes.

Not only did she win the women’s 80-and-over age group, but she was also the oldest runner to cross the finish line in this year’s race.

What makes Carol’s story even more impressive is that she didn’t start running until she was 69 years old. Her journey is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to pursue new challenges and achieve great things.

Carol’s determination and spirit are truly inspiring. She proves that age is no barrier to setting new goals and breaking through boundaries.

Congratulations Joan.. We Love That You Had The Strength And Courage To Pursue Something So Worthy…

At 88 years old, Joan Alexander has made University of Maine history — likely becoming the university’s oldest-ever undergraduate degree recipient.

In the late 1950s, Joan was studying at UMaine in hopes of becoming a teacher. She completed her coursework, but was barred from student teaching, a graduation requirement, because she was pregnant.

More than six decades later, her work has finally been recognized with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

“I didn’t realize that it would mean so much to me, but I now feel that a hole in my heart has been healed,” Joan said.
