We have so many identities that make up who we are. Unfortunately, some may be more vulnerable to stress than others.
Minority stress is real as members in marginalized groups experience unique stressors due to societal prejudice and discrimination apart from already experiencing stress when living as a human being in this very complicated world.
Utilize your resources, lean on your support system, practice self-care, recognize that you are resilient, and know that you are not alone.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse! Beware of these culprits as they can break a relationship!

From Gottman Theory for couples and relationships:

1. Criticism: verbally attacking or criticizing the other person.

Antidote = talk about your feelings using "I" statements and gently express positive needs.

2. Contempt: Attaching sense of self with the intent to insult or abuse.

Antidote = Appreciate. Remind yourself of your partner's qualities and find gratitude for positive actions.

3. Defensiveness: victimizing yourself to ward off a perceived attack and reverse the blame.

Antidote = take responsibility and accept your partner's perspective. Offer an apology for any wrongdoing.

4. Stonewalling: withdrawing to avoid conflict and convey disapproval, distance, and separation.

Antidote = take a break to self-sooth and take time doing something psychologically calming and distracting.

2024's word of the year: brain rot! 🧠 🤯😵‍💫📵💻😌

#2024

"The supposed deterioration of a person's mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of over consumption of material (now particularly online content) considered to be trivial or unchallenging."

FYI, we live in a world where our brains are constantly overstimulated, so being on our phones as part of resting and relaxation is totally okay. But of course, it's all about moderation. You don't want to spend too much time on your phone doomscrolling. This compromises your mental health and cognitive abilities, which include memory difficulties, disorganization, and decision-making.
Pick up a good old-fashioned book and read, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a nice, long conversation with a loved one!

How to combat brain rot:

1. SET BOUNDARIES (WITH YOURSELF)!

2. SCHEDULE SCREEN-FREE TIME!

3. UNPLUG BEFORE BEDTIME (AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE)!

4. CREATE TECH-FREE ZONES!

5. TRY A DIGITAL DETOX!

FYI. This is so cute. 💛💙💜🤎
