This is a photo of our shop after a bit of clean up from the previous tenant, but before the build out of our five rooms. It's crazy to think about how old this space really is (1915). The embossed ceiling tile and the hardwood are from the original construction, so we all made it a priority to preserve these elements.

Have you ever had a tender, red bump on your eyelid? Then you’ve had the extremely annoying and unsightly stye. If you get them regularly, you probably have an underlying condition like meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), blepharitis, or ocular rosacea. If you’re getting styes or other eyelid bumps more than a few times a year, be sure to get it checked by your eye doctor to ensure it’s not something more serious and to come up with a good treatment plan.

In the case that you have a stye that doesn’t resolve after a couple days, an eye doctor can provide additional treatment options to help resolve it faster.

Exciting news… We’ll be hosting an informational event with Coopervision in our shop in a few short weeks! Drs Edward and Michelle are certified to fit a new and very special contact lens called MiSight, which is the first FDA-approved contact lens to slow myopia (nearsighted) progression in children aged 8-12 years at the start of treatment.

Currently, 40% of Americans are nearsighted, and it’s projected to increase up to 58% by the 2050s. The rate of nearsightedness is growing at an alarming rate, especially among our school-age children, putting them at risk of severe sight conditions, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts and myopic maculopathy.

Do you love drinking coffee as much as we do? Coffee brings us energy, happiness and sometimes… twitchy eyelids?

Eyelid twitching (myokymia) is described as spontaneous, constant, rippling contractions. It can last seconds, hours, or even weeks! Annoying as they are, most cases resolve on their own.

While the exact cause of eyelid twitching (myokymia) is not well understood, it’s generally associated with 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕖𝕤𝕤, 𝕗𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕘𝕦𝕖, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕔𝕒𝕗𝕗𝕖𝕚𝕟𝕖 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕜𝕖.

If your eyelid twitch doesn’t resolve or causes any eyelid drooping/closure, it could indicate a more serious condition and should be evaluated by your eye doctor.

Chances are, you know of someone who’s had LASIK and talks non-stop about the wonders of this procedure. A (much) smaller fraction of you may know of someone who ended up unhappy with their surgery or even suffered uncomfortable side effects or substandard vision afterwards.
